Glossary
Definitions for common terms used on CaseRush.gg and in CS2 case opening.
RTP (Return to Player)
The percentage of total money wagered that a game returns to players over time. An RTP of 90% means for every $1.00 spent, the average return is $0.90. Higher RTP means a lower house edge.
EV (Expected Value)
The average amount you would receive if you played a game thousands of times. For cases, EV is calculated by multiplying each item's value by its drop probability and summing the results.
House Edge
The mathematical advantage the platform has on each game. It equals 100% minus RTP. A 10% house edge means the platform keeps an average of $0.10 for every $1.00 wagered. House edge funds infrastructure, support, rewards, and development.
Provably Fair
A cryptographic system that ensures game outcomes are predetermined and cannot be manipulated. Before each game, a server seed hash is published. After the game, the full seed is revealed so players can independently verify the result using HMAC-SHA256.
Server Seed
A secret random value generated by the platform before each game series. Its SHA-256 hash is shown to the player before the game. After the series ends (or the player rotates seeds), the full server seed is revealed for verification.
Client Seed
A value chosen by the player that is combined with the server seed to generate game outcomes. Players can change their client seed at any time, which triggers revelation of the previous server seed for verification.
Nonce
A counter that increments with each game played under the same seed pair. It ensures that each game with the same server seed and client seed produces a different outcome. The combination of server seed + client seed + nonce produces a unique result.
HMAC-SHA256
The cryptographic hash function used to generate provably fair game outcomes. It takes the server seed as the key and combines it with the client seed and nonce to produce a deterministic, verifiable random number.
Case
A virtual container with a set of possible item outcomes, each with a defined drop probability. Opening a case uses the provably fair system to select one item based on these probabilities. Each case has a price, and the total drop probabilities sum to 100%.
Case Battle
A PvP game mode where multiple players open the same cases simultaneously. The player (or team) with the highest total item value across all rounds wins all items from every participant.
Drop Chance
The probability of receiving a specific item when opening a case, expressed as a percentage. All item drop chances in a case sum to 100%. Lower drop chances indicate rarer, typically higher-value items.
Pot Fee / Rake
A percentage taken from the prize pool in certain game modes (e.g., 10% in coinflip). The fee is taken in items rather than as a separate charge, and the system prefers to take from the losing side first.
Skin / Item
A virtual cosmetic item from CS2 (Counter-Strike 2). On CaseRush.gg, skins are represented as virtual items with market-derived values. All items are virtual and have no guaranteed real-world monetary value.
KYC (Know Your Customer)
An identity verification process that may be required for certain account actions such as large withdrawals. KYC helps prevent fraud, money laundering, and ensures compliance with applicable regulations.
Self-Exclusion
A voluntary tool that allows players to temporarily restrict their access to all games for a chosen period (24 hours to permanent). During self-exclusion, the player cannot place bets or open cases.
